Finding Peace With The Talking Joy Team

Pam invites us to listen to a prayer by Thomas Merton followed by group discussion. Listen to how these moms are finding ways to help themselves and their kids navigate quarantine--one year later. It is wearing on all of us. Our conversation is a reminder that we are more alike than un-alike. Take a listen.

As people, we want to feel what we felt before. We miss getting together or going to those places that made us feel good like the gym, church, and dinners out.

We start with a prayer and then have a conversation around it, which leads to how difficult life has been for our moms. One team member (Blair) shares her suggestions for keeping kids busy.

On the podcast, the Talking Joy Team discovers that our life is full of these small moments, and threaded together they make up the whole of our lives.

THE PRAYER by Thomas Merton

“My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it.

Therefore will I trust you always, though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.”

Pam suggests that you print this prayer and read it each morning before you start your day. Notice what changes in you and how the words might offer you the comfort you are seeking.
